Five B.C. cabinet ministers at elite B.C. Liberal party fundraiser today

(Victoria, 5 June 2014) – Up to sixty donors to the B.C. Liberal party are paying $1,000 each to golf with five senior B.C. cabinet ministers today at the Sagebrush golf course in Merritt, B.C. The ministers are Terry Lake, Todd Stone, Steve Thomson, Bill Bennett and Rich Coleman.

According to the Liberal party’s official invitation, those that don’t golf are invited to “be a caddy and join the experience of Sagebrush (for) $1000.00.”

The invitation from the B.C. Liberal party goes on to state that golfers will partake in a “high quality lunch” with “select BC wines” served “in the hideaway” where they “can indulge in a fine scotch, cigar and fly fishing.” Prime rib dinner “with all the trimmings” will be served in the club house.

“Meanwhile single parents on social assistance still face the B.C. government’s “claw back” policy on child-support payments,” said IntegrityBC executive director Dermod Travis.

At a ratio of nearly one cabinet minister for every ten golfers, the 18 holes of golf promises to offer donors a n excellent opportunity to discuss any number of subjects with cabinet ministers, including files that they may have in front of cabinet.

IntegrityBC is calling on the B.C. Liberal party to disclose the names of the golfers, whether any are registered lobbyists or retain registered lobbyists, whether any of the golfers or their employers have files before cabinet, and whether any attended the premier’s $5,000 a plate dinner held last October in Abbotsford.
