IntegrityBC’s statement on the HST results

With today’s rejection of the HST, Premier Christy Clark has a moral obligation to outline in detail how her government plans to restore the PST/GST and the shape that the tax will take moving forward. The Liberal government called the HST “revenue neutral” when it was introduced and – if it was being upfront with British Columbians at the time – must now ensure that all past exemptions which existed under the PST/GST will continue once it replaces the HST. Finance Minister Kevin Falcon has consistently refused to answer questions whether the exemptions which existed before the introduction of the HST will again apply. It is now time for Clark to answer for what Falcon has stonewalled to date.
