B.C. Liberals must repay government if found to have misused public funds

(Victoria, 28 February 2013) – IntegrityBC has called for the B.C. Liberal party to repay the B.C. government if the internal investigation into the BC Liberal multicultural strategy concludes that there was a misuse of public funds.

IntegrityBC is also faulting Premier Clark for turning the investigation over to Deputy Minister John Dyble who reports directly to the Premier herself.

“The seriousness of this matter requires an independent investigation and that investigation should be conducted by B.C.’s Auditor General,” said IntegrityBC Executive Director Dermod Travis.

While Clark – and later Rich Coleman in the Legislature – tried to touch on all the right points in their respective statements, their words ring hollow since one key phrase was missing: “the BC Liberal party will repay the taxpayers of BC if even a single dime was used improperly.”
